Earlier this month we teamed up with David Evans, author of menswear blog The Grey Fox (you see what we’ve done there with the title) to showcase our latest collection of accessories with three essential men’s outfits: work, weekend and evening.
The Grey Fox was started out of frustration at lack of advice for 40 plus men about how to dress and remain stylish. Since it’s inception in 2011, David has collaborated with the likes of Mr Porter, E Tautz, Hackett, Richard James and now Black.
As well as a host of brand collaborations, the blog’s readership has grown rapidly, followed not only by older men but also young men as well as women who, as David suggests, might be looking for inspiration on how to smarten up their husband or partner, or perhaps just because they like to look at pictures of dashing older men.
For older men, accessories are a great way for those looking to broaden their sartorial horizons without having to overhaul their wardrobe as David demonstrates here.
Work
For this look we teamed a grey Prince of Wales wool suit with a two tone blue check wool tie and a navy blue silk handkerchief with white polka dots. Navy and grey is a great colour combination, although not the most adventurous when, when worn together they make a real style statement.

Evening
To contrast this contemporary and striking midnight navy blue Hardy Amies dinner suit, we added a black silk scarf with white polka dots and matching pocket square to a black paisley silk bow tie all understated and classic accessories.

Weekend
For the weekend we opted for two looks; one for the city and one for the country. The country looked centred around a tweed jacket with accessories in autumnal tones of auburn and burnt sienna. For the city look we went with a monochrome outfit and teamed a Jaegar black cashmere coat with our iconic black and ivory houndstooth cashmere scarf worn in the inimitable ‘Grey Fox Pretzel’ style.
